New provisional record for Nathan Jovet and victory for Eliane Szalay in the 2nd round of the Plum KV Courchevel.
New provisional record for Nathan Jovet and victory for Eliane Szalay in the 2nd round of the Plum KV Courchevel.

The reigning trail running world champion was present at the second round of the Plum KV Courchevel 2016, held this Wednesday 27 July. Sylvain Court of the Adidas team, in the thick of preparing for the upcoming trail running world championships to be held in Portugal at the end of October, came to test himself on this Vertical Kilometre (KV) of 1,000 m of elevation gain over 5 km, part of the “Skyrunner France Series 2016” circuit. Sylvain started last in this time trial and set a time of 43min58s. “I’m more comfortable with efforts of 6 to 8 hours, but this course is really very nice and makes for a good interval session. Ideal for improving your climbing speed,” he told us at the finish. A fine performance for this devotee of long distances, but not enough to get ahead of Nathan Jovet of the Salomon Espoir team, who took the new provisional record in 41min11s, improving by 3 seconds the reference time set in the 1st round by Kevin Manon. Guillaume Pierrel took third place of the evening in 44min53s.
On the women’s side, the provisional record of 51min34s set by Corinne Favre last 13 July was not threatened. Eliane Szalay of the Beaufortain Trail won this second round in 55min21s ahead of Véronique Lathuraz of the club Courchevel Sports Alpinisme (1h00min36s) and Pascale Gachet-Mauroz of the ESF Courchevel 1550 (1h00min56s).
There are now only 2 opportunities left, on Wednesdays 10 and 24 August, to come and break the 2016 record or set a personal best on this race open to all. A unique opportunity to compare yourself with the best specialists of the discipline. After the 4 rounds, the men’s and women’s records of summer 2016 will be rewarded with prize money of €500.
These 4 trail running KV rounds are offered by the club Courchevel Sports Alpinisme during the summer and count towards the “Challenge X3 KV Courchevel 2017”. To be ranked in this challenge, you must take part at least once in each of the 3 Vertical Kilometre events offered in Courchevel. To do so, all you need to do is hop on your bike for the “Dynastar KV Courchevel” 2016, whose 3rd round will be held on Wednesday 3 August, lace up your trainers for the “Plum KV Courchevel” 2016, and put on your touring skis for the “Plum KV Courchevel” 2017. A good way to prepare for the extraordinary triathlon that has become the unmissable event for outdoor sports enthusiasts, combining these 3 disciplines in one day: the “Dynastar X3 Courchevel”, which will take place on 16 April 2017.
Challenge X2 KV Courchevel 2016…
A concept unique in the world where ski mountaineers and trail runners can compare their performances on a Vertical Kilometre course that is strictly identical in winter and summer!
The Challenge X2 KV Courchevel 2016 is open to people who took part in a ski mountaineering event last winter and a trail running event this summer. The standings of this challenge result from adding each participant’s best times in ski mountaineering and trail running.
For the moment, Arnaud Mazet leads the provisional standings in 1h27min06s (44min37s in ski mountaineering last winter and 42min29s in trail running this summer). In the women’s race, Corinne Favre takes the lead in 1h42min39s (51min04s in ski mountaineering and 51min34s in trail running).
The best men’s and women’s times of the season, by adding the 2 best performances in ski mountaineering and trail running, will be rewarded with prize money of €1,000.
The times of the Plum KV Courchevel 2016 in trail running version will also be taken into account for the Challenge X2 KV Courchevel 2017 standings, which are combined with the times of the Plum KV Courchevel ski mountaineering events in winter 2016/2017.
