Plum KV Courchevel: Gédéon Pochat and Stéphanie Duc set the bar high from the 1st round!

The 2017 Plum KV Courchevel trail running season is under way. In total 3 rounds will be held this summer, on 12 and 26 July and 9 August, on this Vertical Kilometre (VK) course of 1,000 m elevation gain over 5 km, with prize money of €500 at stake for the 2017 men’s and women’s records. Because of roadworks, the first part of the route was slightly modified, affecting the first kilometre with no impact on the elevation gain or the length compared with the official course (same start and finish). Gender parity was almost achieved in this first round, with 17 women and 24 men at the start of this time trial in Le Praz (altitude 1,300 m).
While all the participants enjoyed the good cauldron soup at the finish at the top of La Loze (altitude 2,300 m), the verdict came with the announcement of the prize-giving. Now Gédéon Pochat will have to be beaten: a member of the French Ski Mountaineering team and of team Salomon, he set the reference time with an excellent 39min15s, and so will Stéphanie Duc , 2011 French trail running champion, who sets the women’s bar at 49min52s. Second place went to Eric David (44min02s) and Géraldine Bau (57min06s), followed by Gilles Tresserre (46min35s) and Clémence David (1h01min36s).
Please note: the second round on Wednesday 26 July will count towards the “Skyrunner National Series 2017” circuit.
X2 KV Courchevel Challenge 2018
People who have taken part in a trail running event in summer 2017 and who take part in a ski mountaineering event in winter 2018 will be ranked in the X2 KV Courchevel Challenge 2018. The ranking for this challenge is the sum of the best trail running and ski mountaineering times for each participant, and the best men’s and women’s times of the year will be rewarded with prize money of €600, with €300 for the runners-up and €100 for the third-placed.
X3 KV Courchevel Challenge 2018
These 3 trail running Vertical Kilometre races count towards the “X3 KV Courchevel Challenge 2018”. To be ranked in this challenge, you must take part at least once in each of the 3 Vertical Kilometre events on offer in Courchevel. To do so, all you need to do is put on your trainers for the 2017 “Plum KV Courchevel”, the first round of which was held this Wednesday 12 July, get on your bike for the 2017 “Dynastar KV Courchevel” and strap on your touring skis for the 2018 “Plum KV Courchevel”. The ranking for this challenge is the sum of the best trail running, cycling and ski mountaineering times for each participant, and the best men’s and women’s times of the year will receive prize money of €800, with €500 for the runners-up and €200 for the third-placed.
A good way to prepare for the extraordinary triathlon, which has become the unmissable event for outdoor sports enthusiasts, combining these 3 disciplines in one day, the “Dynastar X3 Courchevel”, which will take place on 15 April 2018 (you can register online for this final event at www.courchevelsportsoutdoor.com).
