MILLET EVEREST

2 and 3 March 2024

Who has never dreamt of climbing to the top of Everest?

The third edition of the Courchevel Ultra Ski Touring (USTC) “Millet Everest” consists of completing 9,000 m of elevation gain on the Millet Ski Touring course (3.2 km / 500 m of elevation gain), i.e. 18 climbs (57.6 km / 9,000 m of elevation gain), to reach the altitude of the summit of Everest (8,849 m) starting from sea level, as quickly as possible (only the climbs are timed within the allotted time).

The challenge takes place over 2 days. The 1st day starts at 9 am and ends at 7 pm. During these first 10 hours of racing, 5,000 m of elevation gain must be completed in order to continue the ascent the next day. After completing the 5,000 m of elevation gain, participants will reach Everest’s 1st base camp (south side at 5,364 metres altitude (for those who have chosen the Nepalese side), at the foot of the Khumbu glacier, or north side at 5,154 metres altitude (Tibetan side) at the foot of the Rongbuk glacier. Competitors must spend the night in their tents in the start area located at Courchevel Le Praz before setting off for the final ascent the next day from 7.30 am until 3.30 pm to complete the last 4,000 m in under 8 hours! In the event of withdrawal, a diploma corresponding to the altitude reached, with the name of the corresponding summit, will be awarded, and the top 3 finishers of the Everest challenge (best cumulative times over the 18 climbs) will win prize money (1st: €500, 2nd €300 and 3rd: €200).

Saturday 2 March:

8 am - 9 am: Bib collection at the Alpinium, at the race start (free Alpinium car park for participants)

9 am to 7 pm: Start of the Millet Everest 2024 challenge with the ascent of the first 5,000 metres of elevation gain up to Base Camp. (10 climbs in under 10 hours)

The covered Alpinium car park, located at the race finish, will be provided free so that participants can go and refuel and change quickly between each climb. After the 10th climb, participants must set up their tents and prepare what they need for the bivouac (tent, sleeping bag, stove, food…) or may use the help of a sherpa (companion) to assist at the aid stations (at the finish or start only. No help is allowed during the timed climbs) and with setting up the bivouac.

A check of all participants will be carried out during the night. If a participant is not in their tent during the check, their adventure will end at the summit of Mont Blanc (4,809 m) at 5,000 m.

From 6 pm (registration closes at 5.45 pm): 13th round of the Millet Ski Touring 2024. Registration (€8).

At the end of the first day, a prize-giving for the 13th round of the MSTC will be held from 7.30 pm at La Croisette (the round will count the best time of the 10 climbs completed by Millet Everest participants and the time of the participants in the 13th MSTC round who will set off in parallel with the Millet Everest from 6 pm).

Sunday 3 March:

Resumption of the ascent of the Millet Everest 2021 challenge from 7 am until 3 pm. 8 hours to complete the last 4,000 metres of elevation gain without oxygen!
