Two members of the French ski mountaineering team won under the Courchevel sun: Thibault Anselmet set a new French record of 3min20 and narrowly beat Thibaut Baronian, the race’s all-time champion. In the women’s race, Emily Harrop smashed the clock and also set a new record, in 4min29.

“ It’s a special kind of race, short and intense, and this win really does wonders for morale! ” Emily Harrop.

“ This year I had good results in ski mountaineering, so I knew I was in good shape today, especially over this kind of format. I came here to win and I gave the best of myself ” Thibault Anselmet.

All of them showed cool heads and endurance on the legendary K-Zone, where participants cling to a net as they climb. This hellish ascent is the steepest part of the race, starting 120 metres after the start line and running for 160 metres at a gradient of 36°. Then comes the second part of the race: the ramp and the final sprint, where athletes and amateurs dig deep into their reserves before crossing the finish line… completely out of breath.
