Millet Ski Touring Courchevel 2026 final: an ultra-festive evening with Ofenbach

Millet Ski Touring Courchevel 2026 final: an ultra-festive evening with Ofenbach

Since Thursdays 25 December and 1 January, followed by every Wednesday from 7 January to 18 February, not forgetting the World Cup stage on Friday 16 January, ski mountaineers have strapped on their touring skis to climb the 3.2 km of ascent and 500 metres of elevation gain linking Le Praz to Courchevel 1850.

Throughout the season, the best specialists in the discipline have rubbed shoulders to break records or fine-tune their preparation, with the grand final, scheduled for Wednesday 25 February 2026, as the high point.

The evening will begin at 6 pm with more than 800 participants in costume, promising a colourful spectacle. The public will be able to follow the climb right up to the finish at Courchevel 1850 and, for the occasion, make use of the Le Praz lift, free of charge from 5 pm to midnight. It will also give access to the L’Envolée sports hall venue, at the foot of the Olympic ski jumps.

From 8 pm, a buffet will be offered to the competitors alongside the prize-giving ceremony. The concert will begin at 9 pm.

After La Compagnie Créole, Patrick Sébastien, Émile & Images, Magic System, Shy’m’s concert cancelled because of Covid, Keen’V, Louis Bertignac, Tryo, Deluxe and Fatal Bazooka, it will be the turn of Ofenbach to set alight the most explosive, immersive and resolutely futuristic evening in the history of the Millet Ski Touring Courchevel finals.

More than 300 participants in the penultimate round

Participation keeps growing round after round. For the first time in the history of the MSTC, the symbolic mark of 300 registered competitors was passed this Wednesday 18 February in the 10th and penultimate stage of season 16. Faced with this enthusiasm, the organisers had to opt for a mass start instead of the traditional time trial.

The costume week, which began the day before, continued with this special Dynastar “Mercredi-Gras”. Arthur André, dressed in an Olympic Games theme in support of the athletes selected for Milan-Cortina, won a pair of the brand’s skis in a prize draw.

No fewer than 10 nations were represented at the start, with a large Belgian delegation of 38 competitors. Among them, the best men’s time went to Edouard Savery’s in 37 min 02 s, while Charlotte Callebaut set the women’s time in 38 min 13 s.

Eliott Robin Saje and Candice Fertin-Baccon, winners of the 10th round

A member of the club Maurienne Ski Alpinisme, Eliott Robin Saje won this penultimate stage in 23 min 15 s. Second place was keenly contested. In the end, Vincent Loustau of team Vibram finished ahead in 23 min 52 s of Pierre Pollet, credited with 23 min 58 s.

Also worth noting is the fine performance of Paul Sulpice. After winning the last 2 U18 Youth World Cups in Berchtesgaden (Germany) and Surnadal (Norway), he claims a solid 6th place in 25 min 06 s, thereby consolidating his second position in the MSTC category.

In the women’s race, Candice Fertin-Baccon posts a top-level time. With a time of 25 min 52 s, she becomes the 9th woman in MSTC history to go under the 26-minute mark. Winner of this 10th round, she climbs to 7th place in the provisional overall standings. A reference time that could open the doors of the French team for the upcoming Vertical Race World Cups.

With a time of 27 min 25 s, Perrine Gindre sets her reference time of the season, good for 2nd place in the stage, ahead of Lucille Germain, 3rd in 27 min 40 s. In the U16 category, Anouk Vanpe takes the lead in the provisional overall standings thanks to a time of 40 min 30 s.

World champions and Olympic medallists in ski mountaineering expected at the final

At the end of the great fancy-dress final on Wednesday 25 February, the reigning Vertical Race world champions will receive an ovation from nearly 2,000 spectators expected for the concert by Ofenbach.

Leading the provisional overall standings, Axelle Gachet-Mollaret could celebrate her 9th triumph, as could Rémi Bonnet, on course for a 6th title at the ceremony hosted by Ludovic Collet.

The Olympic sprint runner-up Emily Harrop, currently 2nd in the MSTC provisional overall standings, will be one of the big stars of the evening, with the hoped-for presence of Thibault Anselmet, bronze medallist. The two athletes will compete together in the mixed relay this Saturday 21 February. A final that promises to be spectacular, sporting and festive, worthy of the enthusiasm generated throughout this season 16.
