Act 1 - DYNASTAR KV COURCHEVEL - Wednesday 6 July 2016

Jérémy Defaye and Laure-Anne Ferrent open the Dynastar KV Courchevel season.

After trail running and ski mountaineering, it is cycling’s turn to go into Vertical Kilometre (KV) mode. 4 rounds will be held by bike this summer as part of the “Dynastar KV Courchevel” on Wednesdays 6 and 20 July, 3 August and Sunday 21 August. The 15.5 km of the course start at Le Carrey and end 1,000 metres higher at the Jardin-Alpin in Courchevel 1850. At the end of the season, the men’s and women’s records will be rewarded with prize money of €500.

This Wednesday 6 July, the 1st round was started by Jean-Luc Chedal, the new president of the Amicale Cycliste de Courchevel. A fine success with a field of 50 participants and the presence at the start of a star of world cycling: Jeannie Longo. Holder of the women’s record in the cycling leg of the “Dynastar X3 Courchevel” last 17 April, Laure-Anne Ferrent of the Chamrousse team set the reference time for this KV by bike, winning in 53min02s. Jeannie Longo came second in 57min27s and Christelle Houillon completed the podium (1h11min05s).

In the men’s race, Jérémy Defaye of the SCO Dijon club mastered the climb, winning in 43min36s ahead of Simon Négrignat (44min49s) and Eric David (45min52s).

These 4 cycling Vertical Kilometre races count towards the “Challenge X3 KV Courchevel 2017 ”. To be ranked in this challenge, you must take part at least once in each of the 3 Vertical Kilometre events offered in Courchevel. To do so, all you need to do is hop on your bike for the “Dynastar KV Courchevel” 2016, lace up your trainers for the “Plum KV Courchevel” 2016, whose first round will be held this Wednesday 13 July, and put on your touring skis for the “Plum KV Courchevel” 2017. A good way to prepare for the extraordinary triathlon that has become the unmissable event for outdoor sports enthusiasts, combining these 3 disciplines in one day: the “Dynastar X3 Courchevel”, which will take place on 16 April 2017 (you can register online for this final event at courchevelsportsoutdoor.com).
