The 10th stage of the Dynafit Ski Touring Courchevel 2014 goes to Julien Poquet and Elisa Gayet.

This Wednesday 5 February was the first Wednesday since the start of this 4th season of the Dynafit Ski Touring Courchevel (DSTC) when the competitors were treated to a fine snowfall throughout the event. The 15 cm of fresh snow that had accumulated in the hour before the start of this 3.2 km ski mountaineering climb with 500 m of elevation gain did not scare off the 82 skiers present. It must be said that the atmosphere of this night climb by headlamp under the snowflakes was rather pleasant.
Rémi Berchet of the club “Courchevel Sports Mountaineering”, who started in the middle of this time trial, was the first to pass under the finish arch but took third place on the podium this time (27min56s), declaring: “I was able to take advantage of the first participants, who had started ahead of me, but at the halfway point I found myself in the lead and had to break trail. That cost me a little speed in the second part.” Charly Allerme (Courchevel Sports Mountaineering), winner last week, took advantage of Rémi Berchet 's passage to take second position (27min55s) and left the win of this 10th stage to Julien Poquet (HTMS), who finished in 27min26s.
Cédric Cunin , an instructor at ESF Courchevel 1850, finished just off the podium in 28min27s and won the ESF standings. The manager of the partner shop Le Camp de Base, Sébastien Figliolini , did not manage to reach his goal for the evening of getting under the 28min mark but finished with a fine 5th place in 28min33s.
Among the women, it was Elisa Gayet of the club Pyrénées Catalane who won for the second time in a row in 32min32s. Corine Chauchaix of ESF Arêches took second position in 34min23s and posted the best women’s time for the ESF Challenge standings. Véronique Lathuraz, a regular on the Pierra Menta podiums between 1997 and 2009, took 3rd place in 35min14s.
Among the resort’s elected officials, there were fine performances from Dominique Chapuis , who made a very good climb in 52min14s, and Philippe Mugnier in 44min27s.
The difficult weather conditions made the roads dangerous a few hours before the start. A good number of people had to give up coming to the start of this 10th stage, but success was there with a participation rate that was still very high for the occasion. A fine satisfaction for all the volunteers of the association “Courchevel Sports Mountaineering”, who do everything every Wednesday to make this race the essential event in the ski mountaineering world.
