This Wednesday 14 March, a hint of spring reigned over Courchevel all day, with magnificent sunshine and an exceptional temperature of 20 degrees recorded at midday at 1,850 m altitude.

Ideal conditions for the 55 ski mountaineers who took the start of this 15th round of the Dynafit Ski Touring Courchevel (DSTC). After 3.2 km and 500 m of elevation gain on touring skis, Sébastien Sxay of CAF DSA won the climb in 27min37s ahead of Félix Dejex in 27min57s and Eric David of CAF Albertville in 28min06s. Among the women, Elsa Hugot of CAF Chambéry won in 37min19s ahead of Cécile Duc of the Club Courchevel Sport Alpinisme in 38min44s and Sylvie Bastard of CAF Haut Chablais Morzine, who finished in 40min09s.

After the legendary Pierra Menta race (Thursday 15 March to Sunday 18 March), the top ski mountaineers should return to try to improve the record from next Wednesday. Yannick Buffet , world and European runner-up and last year’s DSTC winner, has announced he is coming and has only one goal: to beat Kilian Jornet , who currently holds the best time in 22min34s.

Only 3 Wednesdays now remain to come and take the record, be the best in your category, improve your time or simply put your name in the overall standings, which currently count no fewer than 550 different runners.

A genuine success for this ski mountaineering race, which to date has become the largest in France in number of participants.
