ROUND 13 - DYNAFIT SKI TOURING COURCHEVEL - 29 February 2012
The 13th for François D’Haene and Danièle Bonnevie.
The 13th for François D’Haene and Danièle Bonnevie.
With the days getting longer as spring approaches, the first finishers among the 54 ski mountaineering participants of this 13th round of the Dynafit Ski Touring Courchevel season were able to complete this 3.2 km course with 500 metres of elevation gain linking Le Praz to Courchevel 1850 before nightfall. The number 13 did not bring luck, however, to Romain Cavagna who, starting with bib 13 on this 13th climb, broke a ski on the way up and had to finish the course running with his skis in his hand.
On the other hand, 13 was a good omen for François D’Haene of CAF Chambéry, who won the event and improved his time from the 11th round by more than a minute with a time of 26min10s. Cédric Cunin of the Courchevel Sports Alpinisme club took second place in 27min07s ahead of Félix Dejey , who finished in 28min04s.
Among the girls, it was Danièle Bonnevie of the Club Les Camos du Roignais who took the highest step of the podium in 34min46s ahead of Lola Colombier of CAF Moûtiers in 38min15s and Juliette Claye of CAF Saint-Jeoire in 38min43s.
Bet won for president Guillaume Prin and all the volunteers of the organising association, who had set themselves the goal of 500 ranked over the whole season. At the end of this 13th round, exactly 500 competitors appear in the provisional overall standings, still led by Kilian Jornet Burgada in 22min34s and Laetitia Roux in 28min12s.
A participation record and climbing records that should still evolve over the next 5 rounds before the final on Wednesday 4 April.
