47 competitors lined up at the start of the 10th Dynafit Ski Touring Courchevel, setting off from Le Praz for a 3.2 km climb with 500 m of elevation gain up to the Camp de Base in Courchevel 1850.
Yannick Buffet, 2011 French vertical race champion in ski mountaineering, who came from Praz sur Arly, smashed the climb record with a time of 23min29s, followed by Florent Perrier of Beaufort (who held the previous record) in 24min09s and Alexandre Pellicier, also a regular at the race, which he has won several times, in 25min10s.
Among the women, Claudine Trécourt climbed onto the top step of the podium with 34min. Caroline Joguet followed in 37min16s and Catherine Minary in 37min26s.
The race was a great success, despite the poor snow cover, thanks to the enormous amount of work done on the track by the whole organising team of the Ski Mountaineering Association, who broke the ice and covered the bare sections with snow.
For the 11th edition on Wednesday 16 February, the race will be followed by a talk in the Salle de la Croisette at 8.45 pm, presented by François Taffin, high mountain guide and ANENA reference, on the theme of ''Snow and Avalanches'' - open to all, free admission.
