The grand costume finale of the 2025 Millet Ski Touring Courchevel promises to be dazzling
The grand costume finale of the Millet Ski Touring Courchevel (MSTC) will take place on Monday 10 March, just after the Ski Mountaineering World Championships to be held in Switzerland near Morgins from 3 to 9 March, and a few days before the start of the Pierra Menta. This lovely festive interlude will break up the ski mountaineering season, with more than 800 participants expected at the start.
To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the MSTC, get ready for the wildest evening in the whole history of the finales. The concert by Fatal Bazooka & Friends with Michaël Youn at the helm, accompanied by his Morning Live sidekicks, Benjamin Morgaine and Vincent Desagnat, not forgetting Big Ali, PZK will be explosive and undoubtedly unforgettable, along with surprises that will punctuate the evening.
But before the arrival of this eagerly awaited ski mountaineering party, great battles are expected in the next 2 rounds to fight for places at the top of the respective standings. A great many participants of all levels want to write their names into the roll of honour of this historic year, with all the world’s best athletes ranked thanks to the Vertical Race World Cup held during the first round in Courchevel on 15 December 2024.
As proof, this Wednesday 19 February, 171 ski tourers came to take on the 3.2 km and 500 m of elevation gain of this course between Courchevel Le Praz and Courchevel 1850, which has become the benchmark for Vertical Race.
Hat trick for Perrine Gindre
Boosted by her 2 wins in the 7th and 10th stages, Perrine Gindre of Team Isère Montagne completed the hat trick by winning in 27min38s, 4 seconds off her personal best. Currently 20th in the women’s provisional overall standings, and given her form, she can aim for the top 10 by gaining around thirty seconds. Loanne Roussillon, a member of Maurienne Ski Alpinisme, came second in 29min12s ahead of Noélie Gautier of team Isère Montagne in 30min56s. Swiss runner Stéphanie Craf takes a creditable 4th place in 33min59s.
Swann Juillaguet, a winning first climb
On his first appearance of the season, Swann Juillaguet of Ste Foy Tarentaise pulled off a masterstroke by winning in 23min17s. Hugo Carcey Collet of Méribel Sport Montagne, on his 2nd podium (he won on 5 February), improved his personal best with 23min44s. Yoan Borowy, 3rd in 25min54s, consolidates his lead in the S3V standings. The places of honour go to Pole Sebastian Druszkiewicz of Camp de Base, an MSTC partner company, 4th in 26min03s, and Maxime David of the Valmorel sports club, 5th in 26min36s.
Belgium will be in the spotlight next Wednesday
A very strong contingent of Belgian tourists come to take part in this race every year. Good atmosphere and conviviality are the watchwords. During the 12th round on Wednesday 26 February, a special ranking will be drawn up in their honour. This mini Belgian championship will have a special podium to reward the top 3 women and men from across the border for the evening. A large turnout is expected with the French school holidays for zones A and C.
